Ballincollig Community School first opened on September 14th, 1976 with 109 pupils. In the intervening years over 4,000 pupils have attended here. During this time the school has developed a proud academic and sporting tradition and on the 26th September 2003, Minister for Health and Children, Mr. Michael Martin, TD, opened a new school building with superb new facilities for present and future generations of pupils.

Basketball Finals

Ballincollig Community School contested two county finals in the Neptune Stadium recently. The U-19 team defeated the North Mon in a very tight contest while the U-16 team narrowly lost out to a strong Christians team in what was their first defeat of the year.

Eacht Awards

The Eacht awards were held in the school on Monday, 23rd May. The awards recognise the achievements of students in all areas of school life. We were very fortunate on the night to have local singer/songwriter John Spillane to present the awards.

Transition Year mini-companies win Enterprise Competition.

On Tuesday the 8th of March, the Transition Year mini-companies, ‘Nebula Promotions’ and ‘Mint Web Design’ went to C.I.T for the Cork School Enterprise Competition. Mint Web Design are a mini-company that set up comprehensive and affordable websites for businesses in Ireland. Nebula Promotions organise all-ages events throughout Cork City.

2nd Years Skiing

On Saturday 19th February a large group of second year students from BCS departed Cork airport for a skiing trip to Leysin in Switzerland. They were accompanied by Mr. O'Mahony, Mr. Griffin, Ms Gallagher and Ms. Barrett.
