On Saturday 7th of March, a team of three 5th year students won the Cork final of the European Space Agency’s CanSat competition! Under the guidance of Ms. Duggan, these three students designed and built a satellite inside a Coca Cola can. They then launched it at CIT and collected data about the altitude, air temperature, air pressure, humidity and methane levels during the satellite’s flight. After the flight, they analysed the data and presented it to a panel of judges. It was a tough competition, but the team excelled at all stages. Their win means that they are now through to the National Finals, which were due to take place in Laois at the end of April.
