On the 9″ of July, VMware Cork, a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility based in Ballincollig were honoured to host their CEO, Pat Gelsinger for the first time. Pat was joined in Cork by Jean-Pierre Brulard, SVP and GM EMEA where they were welcomed by over 700 VMware employees for a company meeting here at Ballincollig Community School.

Mark Fitzgerald, past student and Senior Director of Global Services, hosted a panel discussion with Senior Management of VMWare which covered a wide range of topics including innovation and transformation, synergies with Dell and Diversity and Inclusion.

Kieran Barry Murphy, International Controller was then invited up on stage and Kieran and Pat both presented awards. The first award was presented to Kathleen Lowney, Principal of Ballincollig Community School along with Karen Forde and Gary O’Sullivan, Deputy Principals. Kieran used this opportunity to announce VMware Cork’s new diversity and inclusion initiative with the school. This will include a scholarship which will be awarded annually to a female student pursuing technology in college and a new mentorship programme for female Leaving Certificate students intending to explore careers in technology.

VMware spoke about how proud it is to be part of the local community and work with local groups. The company is celebrating 14 years in Ballincollig this year and employs close to 1000 employees at the campus in the town centre, at Barrack Square.
